32 Bit RISC OS Development

Posted by Andrew Poole on 07:46, 4/10/2002 | , , ,

Castle have released an updated version of the Acorn C/C++ Development Suite, which for just 99 UKP on an introductory offer (usually 199 UKP) will give you the C/C++ software, which has been rewritten for a CD release, lots of manuals and some other general tools.

The manuals, which are on the CD, include the Programmers Reference Manuals 1-4 and 5a, the C/C++ manual, Desktop Tools manual, Assembler manual, User Interface toolbox manual and the RISC OS Style Guide. The software includes the C/C++
compilers, some Desktop Tools, Assembler, the User Interface Toolbox, !System and the licence to use and distribute the 32-bit !System updates.

There are also some other things included such as a copy of !Zap, !StrongED and !PDF, and also some links and bug report forms.

Castle have set up a web page describing the release, with an up to date list of what is included.

The C/C++ software hasn't actually been rewritten; it's been updated: Castle's website even contradicts itself.

And another mistake from Castle is that StrongEd, Zap and PDF are put under the misleading name "shareware".

Unless the links page and the bug report form are shareware: "If you use these links for any period of time you have to pay us money". Interesting.

andy/takka.

Stronged is at http://www.stronged.iconbar.com/ not http://www.tnpsoft.co.uk/stronged/ now, even Google knows that, you'd think iconbar would :-P

I don't think the links stuff is "shareware" is it? That would be silly. It's mentioned under 'Information and Shareware' - the links stuff is info, and they think the other stuff is Shareware (which is wrong, of course).
