Is there anyone who has Vantage and ArtWorks with all or most of Martin's plugins installed? I would personally be very interested in comparisons and verdicts on both packages. |

Er... actually, I do! But I'm awaiting the final version of Vantage before I say anything definite :) I've been using ArtWorks for years and so I'm comfortable with it, and with the addition of the text area and bitmap export plug-ins it's breathed a new lease of life into it (although the bitmap export does corrupt sometimes when exporting very large images, e.g. 300dpi A5 for printing). However, Vantage should have everything that a fully upgraded ArtWorks has and more - but tends to crash on my machine, hence I'm waiting for the full release version. I guess it comes down to whether you already have ArtWorks and want to upgrade it, or if you want to wait and stump up for a whole new program. In my own opinion I'd have to think hard about buying a new copy of ArtWorks (presuming I didn't have it already) with Vantage so close, but I can heartily recommend the modules if you already do have a copy of the main program. |

Thanks, Rich. Quite helpful! Is Vantage as easy as or easier to use than ArtWorks? |

I can't really comment on which is easier to use - I've been using ArtWorks for years and have gotten used to that way of working, I'd need a month or two of heavy use to be able to say whether Vantage is easier or not. Currently it seems harder, but that's just because I'm not used to it - e.g. dragging and dropping colours currently seems like more mousework, but it might work out much better for things like graduated fills (if I can get them working ;) Plus undo/redo has only just been added, and as I can't work without those I haven't been able to use previous beta copies for more than a few minutes, but the spec sheet says the undo function is much more powerful etc. etc. |

Vantage certainly sounds great - I hope Cerilica shove a demo on their Web site. I am currently messing with the OvationPro demo - being able to try software like this is very useful in my opinion. |
