The Icon Bar: News and features: ROJO, Code Vault move to Icon Bar server

ROJO, Code Vault move to Icon Bar server

Posted by Richard Goodwin on 09:46, 29/6/2001 | , ,

A mere week after Acorn Gaming found a new home here on web server Neo, we welcome two more sites to the fold.

Both run by Nathan Atkinson of VOTI fame, ROJO and the Code Vault have moved over from the Drobe server to help streamline their system for the upcoming relaunch. The drobe.co.uk versions of the sites will now redirect to the new URLs, which are http://rojo.iconbar.com/ and http://codevault.iconbar.com/ respectively.

For those of you not in the know, ROJO is the RISC OS related jobs website, and the Code Vault is a store of unfinished projects looking for new owners.

Unregistered user Drobe needed the space (well, the bandwidth anyway).

Unregistered user ..and how! We were exceeding our bandwidth so much, the box hosters were laughing all the way to the bank ;)

Unregistered user Try http://www.positive-internet.com/ - 300UKP (that's inclusive of VAT) for 100Mb webspace, unlimited mail aliases, PHP, Perl and most of the rest of it. I've been transferring over 3Gb a week (sometimes 17Gb!) from http://www.beebware.com/ with no additional chages, so I would say contact them. Contact me via the Beebware 'Contact me' form and I'll try and get you a 10% discount...

Unregistered user Rich,
Good point! Lucky you :-)

Saying that, I'll have to see if I can get my employer to host my site. They've got around 2-4Mbps of internet bandwidth with s-t loads of spare space on servers for me to use (and I have got 'free usage' of everything)...

Are there any stats. available on how visitors/bandwidth usage on Acorn Gaming, Iconbar, Drobe, Cybervillage has increased/decreased in the past year or so?

Unregistered user Rich - thanks for your offer. Peter (the owner) is away on holiday at the moment so I'll poke him about it when he returns.

Unregistered user All our stats are publicly available at http://www.iconbar.com/stats/ (same for Acorn Arcade); although I don't know if they're particularly accurate, some people have said they're a little on the conservative side (i.e. some things don't seem to appear when they should do) and the log rotation has been swalling our Saturday stats up until this weekend (thanks to Gareth Moore for figuring that out ;)

Unregistered user What is the total size of TIB or AA webspace?
I can't interpret this from the stats page.

Unregistered user I look forward very much to being poked by Chris ;)

Our newly implimented (and therefore roughly finished) stats are available at http://fudgecakedesign.co.uk/stats

Read into them whatever you want. Drobe's stats are only there because TIB publish theirs... :)

Unregistered user You kinky devil Peter ;) So have you got that fake-stats.php3 page working yet? ;)

Welcome back Pete.

Unregistered user I wouldn't bother having any stats, you only get people looking for dodgy URLs.

In answer to the question about size of the sites, I'm not 100% sure but IIRC the last backup of the main TIB and AA sites took about 150MB of CD; this doesn't include the subdomains though (I think the font site is twice that on its own!)
