The Icon Bar: News and features: South West Show Photos [updated]

South West Show Photos [updated]

Posted by Andrew Poole on 23:24, 24/2/2003 | , , , ,

Just a quickie this time. The Icon Bar has just had an Email from Steve Potts letting us know that he has uploaded some photos of this Saturday's show onto his website.

There are a few photos of the long awaited Omega, one playing a Star Wars movie, some photos of a few stands, and one of the RISC OS Ltd MP3 Jukebox, which appears to have made another outing.

[update]Another obscure portal has also spotted that RISCOS.org have got some show photos too.

[update 2]Julian G. F. Zimmerle has received a demonstration Omega and put on his web site some photographs and (if you scroll down to the bottom of the page) videos of the machine being unpacked, switched on, and booted into a 1280x1024x16M desktop. Looks promising.

Unregistered user Its a pity that there isnt a bit more news about the Omega from the SW show. One of the many TIB editors must've been able to get some juicy gossip.
I don't believe any of these UFO (Unrelease Forgotten Omega) sightings. I'm not really inclined to - I've never had any experinces with the "1st"kind.

I really like the look of the larger Omega case.
Iyonix in an Omega case, anyone? ;-)

Yes please.

Is that it for reports, or am I being a bit optimistic?

I was there (one of the pictures proves it) but I want to know what I missed!

(silly thing wont let keep me logged in)

Did get a chance to try the Omega on the R-Comp stand. It felt very much like my RISC PC. But that could have been because it was running RISC OS 4.

Unregistered user What about this MP3 Jukebox. Is that just a funny thing or are there any plans to release it sometime?

I saw that jukebox at Wakefield last year. It's good fun, and I'd love one, but I can't see any commercial use for it...

he jukebox could have a commerical use, my mate who used to run a pub would have had it in a second.

Know he is aobut to open a disco gear shop he could be interested in it if it is for sale.

Unregistered user Omega most certainly has more appeal on "looks" than he Iyonix, and it doesn't have the stupid blue blob for he Task Manager icon.

If it ever gets released, I rekon I'll buy one.

I think I'd be interested in slightly more important things, such as the performance ;-)

You can always change the sprites and the case, anyway.

Unregistered user True Moss, however, that blue blob thing really does get up my nose. Why didn't they just use their Castle shield logo. Would have looked better.

The blue thing is obviously just modelled on the power switch :-)

I quite like Castle's shield logo too. But I suppose it doesn't quite have that modern feel they want for the computer.

If the Iyonix was a jellybean, and it obviously is, what flavour would it be?
