Putting off buying that USB card because you don't think there'll be many supported devices? Looks like this week alone is proving otherwise. That man
Stu Tyrrell and his
Developments (a band name in the making, boogaloo or otherwise?) writes yet again, this time to tell us of the new range of pen drives he's marketing.
Pen drive are little USB "butt plugs" (ahem), the ones on offer here measuring roughly 75mm x 27mm x 10mm. You can slip them into your pocket (some other models go the whole hog and are made as key fobs) and carry around some pretty decent storage (compared with floppy discs, which are bigger in bulk but much smaller storage-wise). They'll work on modern PCs without the need for additional drivers, or on RISC OS machines with a Simtec USB card and the drivers supplied by Mr. Tyrrell, which means they're pretty handy for backups or transfers. They'll allegedly even work on Macs. Fully inc, the prices are £37.95 for 64MB, £57.95 for 128MB, and £97.95 for 256MB (£29.30, £46.32 and £80.36 ex-VAT and carriage). No pictures as yet, but we're keeping our fingers crossed.

Sorry, it is: http://www.babyusb.com Works on PCs with Windows and Linux, and Macs with OS9.x or OSX. And now maybe it will work on RISCOStoo using the above mentioned 'developments'. Hehe. |

Presumably they'd work with the generic storage class drivers that will hopefully ship with new USB cards. |

I doubt generic USB mass storage drivers will be released - it's far too much work for someone to do it without allowing some control over release (the STD drivers have taken quite a while just to get the current list of devices available to work). |
