I think we have a challenge: get the Rich to buy a DS or Revolution by the end of the year. :)
Good luck. I've never owned a Nintendo or Sega piece of hardware at all (unless you count third-party joypads with the guts re-wired to work on Acorn printer ports - no, neither do I).

Technically I've never owned an XBox either. I got bought one as a sort of bonus for completing a project on time, but they never bought any games and sold it off to Bob. Some bonus.

I also owned a grand total of one Playstation game (Time Crisis, with the gun), but never bought the console. I only got a PS2 because the DVD player was on the blink, and I got Sky installed free if I spent 200 quid (OnTV had just gone bust). I also made sure I bought the Metal Gear Solid 2 pack so game 1 was cheaper, and because I was buying a console I got a second game cheaper too. I made sure I worked every angle! :)

On the other hand, to play Far Cry and Half-Life 2 I hand-built a new PC.

Chances of getting me to buy a Revolution or DS by the end of the year? Slim and none, and Slim's out of town.

There haven't been that many Mario games...

Get the Linksys WRT54G - either an old version, or if you have to get a new one make sure it's the Linux version with the extra memory. It's got router/wireless/switch/NAT/all the fun stuff, and then you can explore the two or three third party firmware upgrades that allow you to do other funky stuff. You could spend days playing with it. Fifty quid-ish.

Or just pick up a cheapo WAP from ebuyer, muppet. Mine cost about 15 quid for a USR one.

According to Nintendo, the WRT54GC and WRT54GX aren't very good.

My current router has ADSL/router/switch/NAT/all the fun stuff. And so does this new one (subtract ADSL, add some wireless). All these different bits are probably conflicting with each other, and are causing it to not work.

Because you're a geek. I know you want to.

The default version doesn't have DHCP assigning IP by MAC address, which I used to use a lot in Chichester, so I was seriously considering "upgrading" my elderly parent's router to a CLI-only job. After all, it's not like they'd cope with the pretty web page version now... I didn't though, I left it alone for once. Fnar.

You don't need the official Nintendo USB wifi adapter - anything that provides 802.11b and WEP security should work fine.

You get used to it after a bit :P
Lesson 1: Don't climb trees, because no matter which diretion you try to get off in you always end up jumping off the side of the level.
