SDL Ports Aplenty

Posted by Andrew Poole on 08:32, 6/5/2003 | ,

Rocks'N'DiamondsAfter last week's news that Peter "Chocky" Naulls had ported several SDL games to RISC OS, AcornArcade was Emailed on Sunday to tell us that he has teamed up with Neil "Nex" White and has ported lots more games, which takes the total number of ported games to 19.

Neil's website contains mirrors of some of the ports (just the ones he helped with), and of course, his own games for the platform, which are coming thick and fast.

Unregistered user Hmm, Rocks'N'Diamnods looks remarkably like the same level layout as a PD RISC OS game I've got a copy of; if only I could remember it's name.

Unregistered user Does someone want to produce a set of Repton levels for RandD?

Unregistered user It wouldn't work properly. There are no monsters that come out of eggs, and diamonds fall in RnD

Unregistered user Yeah, but note there are Sokoban levesl and such.
The rules can be changed, so it's not out of the question. Just don't ask me to do it ;-)

Unregistered user The point is Jeffrey - it's one a collection of new games and looks promising. Keep your sniping to yourself please.

Unregistered user I wasn't sniping; I was merely pointing out that the level shown in that screenshot looks like a level in another game. I'm well aware that PD games copy styles and level layouts from each other, just wasn't aware that it had occurred with that game.

Unregistered user It's also important to note how many games have been ported and in such a short space of time.
It's an indication of how usefull the SDL port we now have makes things.
Now, who's for a port of StarControl2 and Electrem?
Cheers!

Unregistered user 2 beer/charity-of-your-choice tokens await Mr.Naulls for those (they sound good anyway) should they be converted.
